Boozy rum punch popsicles keep things cool and fun!
These fruity frozen treats will make adults very happy.
They are sweet, fruity and refreshing!
I know I’ve mentioned before that I’m definitely a fair weather frozen treat eater. When the calendar says April, I start buying gallons of ice cream and boxes of popsicles and ice cream sandwiches for me and the family.
I make things Reese’s Ice Cream Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Pie, or Strawberries and Cream Ice Cream Sandwiches. We are munching on cold things all way until September.
Then fall comes around and I completely ignore the freezer section when I grocery shop.
So here we are again, facing the long hot summer. Instead of turning to ice cream cakes, I am making popsicles…boozy popsicles.
What Is Rum Punch?
When it comes to making rum punch, keep this rhyme in mind: One of Sour, Two of Sweet, Three of Strong, Four of Weak.”
This means punch is made with: one part lime juice, two parts sweetener, three parts rum, and four parts water.
A Rum punch cocktail recipe usually consists of rum (light, dark, or coconut) and lots of fruit juice like pineapple, orange juice, lemon or lime juice and grenadine for color.
Some of these can be swapped out and the amounts may vary, but these ingredients are usually the basics of a rum punch.
The most popular rum punch is Jamaican rum punch. The drink is sweet, strong, and has a generous amount of fruit flavor.
How To Make Rum Punch Popsicles
For this recipe, I took all the delicious ingredients from my favorite rum punch cocktail, put them in a blender along with fresh pineapple chunks. Once everything is blended, pour the mixture into popsicle molds.
Place the popsicle molds in the freezer, check the molds after an hour. If they begin to solidify, place a wooden stick into each popsicle. Allow the popsicles to freeze completely.
To serve the popsicles, run the molds under warm water for just a minute, the popsicles should pull out of the molds easily.
Where To Buy Popsicle Molds
You can buy popsicle molds almost anywhere! I purchased mine at Target, but you can find them at craft stores, Amazon, dollar stores and grocery stores. You could also use disposable popsicle tube-shaped bags.
You can find popsicle sticks at most craft stores.
Why Won’t My Popsicles Freeze?
One thing to note about boozy pops is that alcohol will not freeze the same as other liquids. The popsicles will be a little softer than store bought popsicles
Rum Punch Popsicle Ingredient Substitutions
You could substitute almost any citrus juice for the juices listed here; also mango nectar, lemonade, and limeade would be wonderful.
Coconut Rum or any other flavored rum can be used in these popsicles as can flavored vodka.
A rum punch recipe is a natural fit for frozen treats. They are fruity and sweet, just like your favorite popsicles and the added alcohol makes these fun, icy treats for adults to enjoy!
