This milkshake has all the flavor of pumpkin pie! The hint of booze just a bonus!
Every Thanksgiving, I think to myself “I’m not going to overeat, I’m not going to overeat” and then sure as the sun is yellow; I over eat. No matter if I’m wearing stretchy pants or if I unbutton my jeans, I somehow feel too full to eat dessert. And I love dessert. I love it so much that I force myself to eat a slice of pumpkin pie knowing that I will lie on the couch in extreme discomfort for the rest of the evening.
I’ve come up with a way to enjoy my Thanksgiving day dessert without that heavy, full feeling. I’m going to drink it instead. Why not have pumpkin pie as a milkshake? There is ALWAYS room for ice cream, right?
This ice cream is a dream. It is made with creamy vanilla ice cream, milk, pumpkin, a little spice and a lot of booze (optional and quantity added per taste). While not one element stands out more than another; it all works together to give you one sinfully luscious, sippable dessert! I used spiced rum for this recipe; it fit in naturally with the pumpkin pie spice. I also used coffee liqueur and Irish cream. Definitely, adjust the alcohol quantities per taste and know that this milkshake would be delicious without the booze. It’s just that boozy milkshakes are more fun.
So if you tend to find yourself too full for that slice of pie or cake after your turkey dinner, consider this pumpkin pie milkshake. It’s rich, tastes just like pumpkin pie, it is an effortless treat and with that shot of booze, it allows you to put up with your family just a little bit longer. Isn’t that what the holidays are all about?
Boozy Cool Drinks
- 10 scoops of good vanilla ice cream
- 2/3 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 1/2 ounces spiced rum
- 1 ounce coffee liqueur
- 1 ounce Irish cream
- Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend to combine. Pour into glasses.
- I used Captain Morgan's Rum, Kahlua and Baliey's Irish Cream.
