Sloppy Joes meet tacos in this easy family pleasing meal! Get your bibs ready!
School Lunch
Think back to your school lunches. Tostadas, pizzas, cheeseburgers, fish sticks, tater tots and sloppy joes. I loved sloppy joe day. It wasn’t quite a burger, more like chili in a bun. It was messy and totally fun to eat. The best day ever was when I had sloppy joes at school and then mom served them up at home!
Back then, sloppy joes were strictly made from a can. My mom didn’t bother trying to make a homemade version. She made so many other things from scratch that I think this was her way of having a night off. I didn’t care. It was my way of having a night off from homemade food too! This was fast food for our family. We were living large!
How to Make Taco Sloppy Joes
It is crazy how easy it is to make your taco seasoning as well as your own sloppy joes. Seriously, put back those packets and put back those cans! They have way too much sodium anyway. All these tacos sloppy joes require are a handful of ingredients, a small bit of time and hungry mouths!
Feel free to season them as you please. I used a chipotle flavored salsa, but your family may not like that so use your favorite salsa. I used pinto beans, but you can use black beans, kidney beans or no beans at all. You don’t have to use ground turkey either. Ground chicken, beef, pork or a vegetarian version would be fine. This recipe is as adaptable as it is delicious! No matter what ingredients are used, have your napkins handy, it’s gonna be messy!
I’m sharing this recipe over on Food Fanatic today. Be sure you stop over there and take a look around. We are having a fiesta there this week because it’s TACO WEEK!

Combining two delicious dishes into one – what a fabulous idea! I’ll definitely have to give this a go sometime.
