Amish Peanut Butter

Amish Peanut Butter

Nine years ago, a little red-faced, wrinkly baby girl in a blue and pink cap was placed by a nurse upon my lap.   Through the tears, all I could say was “you came out of me?”.  I couldn’t believe that something so beautiful and so precious was housed in my belly for 9 whole months!

I still marvel at that little girl.  I cannot believe that we’ve been blessed with such a beautiful, sweet-natured child.  Ellie lights up each and every day.  She fills our hearts with love.  I’m so proud of her.  I’m in love with the person she is, I am in awe of the person she will become.  I still can’t believe she came out of me.  She is all I had ever hoped for in a child.  I love her.  I carry her heart with me wherever I go.

I am going to make cupcakes for Ellie’s party (Cherry Coke to be exact!).  But for today,  Ellie’s actual birthday, all she requested was this Amish Peanut Butter.  It is her favorite! Although peanut butter is the predominant ingredient, it isn’t as pronounced as you might think.  The marshmallow fluff and the maple syrup takes peanut butter to a whole new  level!  It’s very fluffernutterish  (ok, ok, totally NOT a word, but it’s descriptive don’t you think?).  I promise you will adore this even if you aren’t a fan of peanut butter!  This pairs wonderfully with apples, pears, pretzels, graham crackers… you get the idea!  It’s a perfect fall treat, but can certainly be eaten any time of the year!  This makes an enormous batch, pour it in jars and make some friends!

  7. On a trip to Amish country with friends, we ordered lunch at an amazing Amish restaurant. My husband and the other hubby ordered burgers (really??? In Amish Country???). Our food arrived and the guys grabbed the squeeze bottle of brown mustard sitting on the table… except… it was Amish peanut butter! Ohhhh, gross! That was back when the travel budget was super-tight, so the guys “manned up” and ate their Amish peanut butter fluff burgers. Every time I see Amish peanut butter I crack up!
Thanks for a great laugh to start the day :)

AND Happy Birthday to Ellie! My own Ellie just turned eight.

This looks yummy! I make something similar, except I don’t cook it. I just put the ingredients in a blender (mine vary from yours) and I serve it over chocolate ice cream. I grew up in a community where there is a large Amish population. The local ice cream shop sells and Amish Sundae which consists of vanilla ice cream drenched in Amish Peanut Butter. Thanks for sharing! I want to try your version.
