This brandy alexander recipe is perfect for the season.
This is the kind of cocktail I envision sipping as I snuggle up next the fire. I think I have that same, romanticized vision every year. It’s a vision of me and my husband enjoying a few cocktails in front of a roaring, crackling fire. The kids will have gone to bed without stalling and all the presents are wrapped and ready to go. My breakfast croissant French toast bake is resting in the fridge, my prime rib is prepared and ready for Christmas dinner. I am feeling peaceful, stress free and festive.
Yep, that is a romantic vision indeed. This is what really happens. There is a fire in the fireplace and I suppose you could say it is crackling but that is mainly because the wood is wet or old and will not burn no matter what. My husband pokes and prods the fire, but its sort of fizzles which is fine because there is no time to enjoy it anyway. Our kids are old enough to stay up late but with the excitement of Christmas, they stay up way later than I can which doesn’t bode well for all the last minute Christmas wrapping that needs to be done. I try to have a cocktail, but it makes too me sleepy so I go to bed early and hope to wake up at a ridiculous hour to finish everything before the kids wake up.
A Little About This Brandy Alexander Recipe
This cocktail only requires 3 ingredients; eggnog, brandy and spiced rum. You could add freshly ground nutmeg and cinnamon to spice things up and if eggnog isn’t your favorite, cream would work just fine. The spiced rum really warms you up and the eggnog makes it creamy, sweet and smooth!
I have a new plan this year. I’ll be making this eggnog brandy alexander recipe and I will drink it too. But I won’t wait until Christmas eve. I think the 23rd is a much better night for cocktails and fires, don’t you?
