A can of refrigerated biscuits doesn’t look like the starting point for a caramel apple dessert. But cut the dough into small pieces, coat it with cinnamon sugar, and tuck apples and candy between the layers, and it becomes something closer to individual monkey bread with a hidden filling.
The surprise comes when the muffin is pulled apart. Beneath the golden biscuit pieces sits a spoonful of cinnamon apples and a peanut, caramel, and nougat candy bite. The candy softens during baking, adding sweetness to the fruit without making a separate caramel sauce.

The idea comes from Lemons for Lulu’s Caramel Apple Monkey Bread Muffins, which use store-bought biscuits instead of homemade dough. Each portion bakes in a muffin cup, keeping the filling inside its own small bundle.
The apples and candy go between the biscuit pieces
Kitchen shears make it easy to cut each refrigerated biscuit into four pieces. Smaller pieces fit inside muffin cups and leave room for the filling without creating an oversized mound of dough.
Toss the pieces with cinnamon and sugar, then arrange a few at the bottom of each prepared muffin cup.
Add a small spoonful of cinnamon-seasoned apples and one Snickers bite, or a similar peanut-and-nougat candy with caramel.
Cover the filling with more biscuit pieces, keeping the apples and candy near the center rather than against the edges.
The biscuit dough forms the outside of the muffin while the filling stays concealed until serving.
Pinching the dough keeps the caramel inside
The important step happens before the muffin tin goes into the oven.
Press the top biscuit pieces together around the filling, closing gaps where melted candy or apple juices could escape.
A small amount of melted butter adds richness and helps coat the cinnamon-sugar dough. The original recipe also recommends placing a little butter at the bottom of each muffin cup, without adding enough to make the finished muffins greasy.
The muffins bake for approximately 15 minutes, according to the recipe, although the provided instructions don’t specify an oven temperature.

As the biscuits rise and brown, the candy softens inside the dough and combines with the cinnamon apples.
Unlike traditional monkey bread baked in a large pan, these muffins contain individual portions with their own centers.
They work as a sweet breakfast or dessert, but the appeal is the filling hidden beneath the cinnamon-coated biscuit pieces. What looks like a small pull-apart bread reveals apples and softened candy once opened.
