This from-scratch onion dip is a classic recipe! Even if you aren’t a big onion fan, you are going to not keep away from this dip!

Why is it called French Onion Dip? It is thought that a French cook in L.A, added instant onion soup mix to sour cream.. and voila, a star was born.

INGREDIENTS

– olive oil –  onion – cream cheese – sour cream – mayo – Worcestershire sauce – garlic salt – Pinch of paprika

STEP ONE

Heat olive in a large skillet that has been placed over medium heat.  Add sliced onions.  Cook until onions are caramel in color and very soft, about 20 minutes.

STEP TWO

Remove the onions from the heat and allow them to cool. When onions are cool to the touch, chop the onions and set them aside.

STEP THREE

In a bowl, cream together the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayo. Stir in chopped caramelized onions, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic salt.

STEP FOUR

Garnish with a sprinkle of paprika, parsley, or green onions just before serving.
