Celebrating Pi Day with Pie

I love holidays.  My new favorite is Pi Day!  Some may celebrate the smarty kind of pi, but  I’m a foodie, so I’m going to celebrate it with food!  Specifically the buttery crusted kind!

I am so excited to have the opportunity to talk about one of my favorite desserts-pie!  Seriously, who doesn’t love pie?

With Pi day right around the corner,  I found myself thinking a lot about pie.   I’ve been dreaming about the endless varieties of pie.  I mean really, the possibilities are endless aren’t they?

I’m a list person.  Nothing gets me more excited than making and completing lists.  So I made a list of the pies I like and when I like to eat them.  Indulge me, if you will.

Cherry:              I love to eat cherry pie when I’m feeling like a spunky tart.  These are the days when I throw out quips faster than a pitcher throws a fast ball.

Apple:                I love to eat apple pie when I’m feeling nostalgic.  If there was a dessert my mom made really well, it was apple pie!

Key Lime.:         I love to eat key lime in the summer time.  It’s tantalizingly cool and crisp.

Lemon:               I love to eat lemon pie at Easter.  The pastel color reminds of me of the daffodils that start popping up (and then freezing because there’s always one more snowfall in Ohio!),  marshmallow peeps and baby chicks.  I’m a sucker for pastels.

Pumpkin:           I love to eat my pumpkin pie in the spring.  A little different, I know.   But I like to eat pumpkin when I’m removed from all the flavors of fall.  It reminds me why I love that season!

Pecan:                  I love eating pecan pie when I’m in the mood for something earthy.  My mouth waters at the thought of those aromatic pecans toasting atop that sweet, molasses laden filling.

Coconut:             I love eating coconut cream pie when I’m in the need for some comfort.  To me, this pie is the dessert equivalent of chicken soup.  The milky smooth coconut filling calms and soothes me.

Frozen:                 I like frozen pie when I’m desperately in the mood for some crusty goodness but am too lazy to make my own!  Enter  Marie Callender’s pies!!  I can wipe that nervous sweat off my brow, because  I can get my pie fix any time I need and in any flavor I’m craving because Marie Callender’s delicious pies are available in any store!

If you have  had your fair share of Marie Callender’s pies, they would love to hear from you!  Go to their website to rate and review your pie experience!  And check out the Marie Callender’s blog for ideas on how to celebrate one of the best holidays ever!

If you haven’t yet experienced the beauty of the frozen pie, here’s a coupon for $1.50 off any Marie Callender pie (they have pies for dinner too!)!

I guess I was feeling like a tart today.  I am surprising my family with this streusel topped cherry pie.

I’ll have to explain why two pieces are already missing.

I hope you have better self-control.  Actually I don’t.  I hope you enjoy each bite!

I, too, am a pie lover. Maybe it’s because I can make them and my cakes always look like I let a 5 year old help me decorate it. There are few treats better than a piece of pie made with tart cherries. Yum!

  3. Mmmmm, cherry pie! Actually I love all pie, but I just am not a good crust maker :)

Oh me neither! It’s always so much easier to use a pre made crust or just buy a frozen pie!
